BOX SCORE

Bethlehem, Pa. (Mar. 30, 2010) - Junior attack Felicia Sippel (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert) scored a season-high five goals and three players scored at least four to lead Alvernia University (6-2) to a 20-8 victory over Moravian College (2-5) Tuesday afternoon in non-conference women's lacrosse action at Moravian.

Sippel scored four of her five goals in the first half as Alvernia built a 13-3 lead at the break.  Sophomore Sam Landis (Watsontown, Pa./Warrior Run), has at least one goal in all eight games this season and totaled a season-high four on Tuesday.  Freshman Alyssa Verrillo (North Wales, Pa./Archbishop Wood) also scored four goals and lead the team with 26 goals this season.

Alvernia scored one goal before the first Moravian goal, two before the second, three before the third, then closed the half with seven straight for the 10-goal lead at the break.  Sophomore Sarah George (West Chester, Pa./Bayard Rustin), the only player along with Landis to have scored in every game this season, closed the first half scoring with her second goal of the game.

Alvernia split time in net between freshman Vicky Kearn (Merrick, N.Y./Sanford H. Calhoun) and sophomore Jenn Czarnecki (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert).  Both goalies made four saves and Kearn earned her fifth win of the season.

Sippel, the Alvernia record holder for single season goals, started the season with just five goals in the first four games.  Her five on Tuesday give her 13 in the last four games.  Verrillo, who has scored in seven of eight games this season, has at least three goals in each of those seven games and 20 over the last five.

Alvernia is off for Easter break and will return to the conference schedule next Tuesday with an evening, home game against Widener University.
