Williamsport, Pa. (April 17, 2010) - Lycoming College (6-7, 5-4) scored the last six goals of the game to erase a three-goal deficit and earn a 17-14 win over Alvernia University (8-4, 4-4) Saturday afternoon in Middle Atlantic Conference women's lacrosse action at Lycoming.
Alvernia jumped out to a 5-0 lead and held a 7-3 lead with under 10 minutes left in the half, but Lycoming scored five straight to close the first half and took an 8-7 lead into the break.
The Crusaders started the second half the same way they started the game with a long goal streak. This one went six straight and the Crusaders reestablished the five-goal advantage, 13-8 with 24 minutes left to play.
Lycoming answered with three straight goals over the next five minutes to pull within two and Alvernia sophomore
Sam Landis (Watsontown, Pa./Warrior Run) scored with just better than 15 minutes left to put Alvernia up 14-11.
The Warriors answered that four minutes later and scored twice in a 44 second span to knot the game at 14-all with seven minutes to play. They continued the trend of scoring streaks by running off six straight to close out a 17-14 victory.

Alyssa Verrillo (North Wales, Pa./Archbishop Wood) scored four to lead the Crusaders.
Freshman Vicky Kearn (Merrick, N.Y./Sanford H. Calhoun) stopped 10 for the Crusaders.
Alvernia continues the conference schedule hosting Lebanon Valley next Wednesday.
