Reading, Pa. (April 24, 2010) - All three seniors honored in a pregame ceremony tallied a goal and sophomore
Sarah George (West Chester, Pa./Bayard Rustin) netted a game-high four to lead Alvernia University (10-4, 6-4) to a 20-3 victory over King's College (0-14, 0-9) Saturday afternoon in Middle Atlantic Conference women's lacrosse action at Schlager Memorial Field.
In all, the Crusaders put 10 players in the goal column including sophomore defender
Jenna Sinko (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert) who excitedly cashed in on her first free position attempt.
Alvernia quickly jumped out to a 6-0 lead over the first 10 minutes getting goals from five different players including a pair from senior
Tara Walls (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township).
Kara Ross (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown), who was also honored in the pregame ceremony, scored her first of the season and final of the first half that put Alvernia up 15-0 at the break.
Senior
Noelle Hoag (Boothwyn, Pa./Chichester) finished the senior trio with the second goal of the second half and the Crusaders cruised to the victory.
Sinko scored the first goal of her career at any level with 16 minutes left in the game.
Alvernia split time between Vicky Kearn (Merrick, N.Y./Sanford H. Calhoun) and
Jenn Czarnecki (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert). Both made two saves each.
Alvernia will continue the conference schedule at Messiah College on Tuesday.
