Reading, Pa. (Sept. 19, 2010) - Senior Ashley Tatangelo (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) gave Alvernia (4-2) the early 1-0 lead but TCNJ (6-1) posted three unanswered goals as the Crusaders fell 3-1 this afternoon in non-conference action at Schlager Memorial Field.

Alvernia struck first as Tatangelo found the back of the net for her first goal of the season 17 minutes in.  A corner pass was received by Tonya Rutt (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) who quickly passed on to Tatangelo who drilled a shot lower right to give Alvernia the 1-0 lead.
 
TCNJ evened the score less than ten minutes later when they, like Alvernia took advantage of a corner opportunity.  Camille Passucci netted her third goal of the season after she redirected a shot from Kellyn Riley off a corner pass in.  The score remained tied at one through the rest of the first half.

The Lions from TCNJ nearly broke the tie in the 48th minute, but Rutt came up with two consecutive defensive saves to preserve the 1-1 tie.  TNCJ managed to break the tie in the 67th minute when Jessica Falcone found the back of the net for her fifth goal of the season, assisted by Kathleen Notos.  The Lions added an insurance goal in the 83rd minute after a lofted shot deflected off of Rutt, attempting another defensive save, and found the back of the net.

The Crusaders were out shot 18-3 and TCNJ earned 15 penalty corners to Alvernia's three

The Crusaders return to play Sept. 22nd at 7:00pm as they host Eastern University.
