Medaille Advances Into ECAC Championship Game

Medaille Defeats Marywood 5-2 In Semifinal

Reading, Pa. (Nov. 12, 2011) - The Mavericks from Medaille (19-3-1) defeated Marywood University (14-6-1) 5-2 this evening in ECAC Semifinal action at Schlager Memorial Field at Alvernia University.  With the win, the Mavericks will face Swarthmore College in the ECAC South Championship Game tomorrow at 2:00pm at Alvernia.  Swarthmore defeated host Alvernia 1-3 earlier in the day to advance into the championship game.

Medaille junior forward George Tor had a hat trick this evening, scoring the first, second and fourth goal for the Mavericks.  Tor now has 18 goals on the season.

Tor netted his first goal in the 15th minute to give the Mavericks the early 1-0 lead.  The Pacers from Marywood struck back quickly with a goal in the 21st and 31st minute to take the 2-1, first half lead.  Scoring for Marywood was Richard Fifi and Brett Megee.

Medaille tied the game at two with Tor's second goal (54:54) and put in the go-ahead from Matt Brehm in the 67th minute.  They added some insurance with Tor's third goal of the game at 67:48, and as the clock wound down, John Smith netted the fifth goal for the Mavericks (89:16).
