Alvernia Posts Record Seventh Straight

Verrillo And George Lead Crusaders

Wilkes Barre, Pa. (Mar. 26, 2011) - Alvernia University (7-0, 4-0) won a program record seventh straight Saturday afternoon posting a 19-8 win at King's College in Middle Atlantic Conference women's lacrosse action.

The Crusaders got four goals each from Alyssa Verrillo (North Wales, Pa./Archbishop Wood) and Sarah George (West Chester, Pa./Bayard Rustin) while Jenn Czarnecki (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert) and Jess Glace (Langhorne, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) combined to make six saves.

King's opened the scoring with two goals in the first three minutes, but Alvernia came back with 10 of the next 12 for a 10-4 lead at halftime.  Verrillo scored three of her four goals in the opening half.

The Crusaders put the game out of reach scoring the first six goals of the second half, the last two in the run from George.

Alvernia continues the conference schedule Wednesday when it hosts Messiah College.
