Nine Players Tally In 17-7 Win Over Misericordia

Reading, Pa. (Apr. 9, 2011) - Nine different players scored for Alvernia University (9-2, 6-2) in a 17-7 win over Misericordia University (2-9, 0-8) Saturday afternoon in Middle Atlantic Conference women's lacrosse action at Schlager Memorial Field.

Senior Felicia Sippel (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert) and junior Sarah George (West Chester, Pa./Bayard Rustin) each led the way with a hat trick for Alvernia.  The Crusaders closed the first half with 12 of the final 13 goals for a 12-2 lead at the break and both teams netted five goals each in the second half.

Sophomore Alyssa Verrillo (North Wales, Pa./Archbishop Wood) was one of four players to score two goals for the Crusaders, and she pulled within three goals of 100 for her career. 

Vicky Kearn (Merrick, N.Y./Sanford H. Calhoun) got the start in net for the Crusaders and played into the second half making five saves.  Jenn Czarnecki (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert) stopped four shots over the final 16-plus minutes.

Alvernia takes a break from conference play to host Gettysburg College on Wednesday.
