Four Hat Tricks Lead Alvernia To Win At Rosemont

Rosemont, Pa. (Mar. 15, 2012) - Alvernia University (4-2) got three goals or more from four different players in a 20-8 victory over Rosemont College (0-3) Thursday afternoon in non-conference men's lacrosse action at Rosemont.

The Crusaders also scored at least three goals in each of the four quarters and set a new team record for goals in a game surpassing the old mark of 17 in a win over Hood during the 2006 season.  Brian Ray (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) led the way for the Crusaders with five goals and Colin Gallagher (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) scored four.  Paul Tarnacki (Howell, N.J./Howell) and Jared Toll (St. Catherines, Ontario/Lewisburg Area) scored three goals each.

Alvernia held Rosemont to two goals in each of the first two quarters and built an 8-4 lead at halftime.  The Crusaders put up five more goals in the third quarter to push ahead 13-7 then came through with a seven-goal final quarter to seal the win.

Kevin Shupp (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) made five saves in net for the win.

Alvernia will travel to Penn State-Abington Saturday for a non-conference game.
