Crusaders Earn Record Win At Abington

Abington, Pa. (Mar. 17, 2012) - Alvernia University (5-2) scored a team-record 23 goals and tied the mark for wins in a season with a 23-2 win at Penn State-Abington (0-5) Saturday afternoon in non-conference men's lacrosse action.  Brian Ray (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) and Jon Lozoskie (Fallston, Md./Fallston) led the way with five goals apiece for the Crusaders.

Alvernia jumped out to a 4-0 win after the first quarter.  Lozoskie and Ray scored two each during the opening 15 minutes.

The Crusaders came back with eight goals in the second quarter and took a 12-1 lead at the halftime break.  They added four more in the third and another seven in the fourth. 

In total, five players scored at least three goals and goalies Kevin Shupp (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) and Brandon Weaver (Shillington, Pa./Governor Mifflin) allowed one goal each without a save.

The Crusaders have a healthy break and will return to action Mar. 28 against Oberlin at home.
