Alvernia Falls To Susquehanna 19-11

Senior Samantha Landis Nets Four Goals

BOX SCORE Reading, Pa. (Mar. 17, 2012) - Alvernia University (2-3) fell to the visiting Crusaders from Susquehanna (5-0) by a score of 19-11 this afternoon at Schlager Memorial Field in non-conference action.  Susquehanna took the first half 11-7, and outscored Alvernia 8-4 in the second half.

Susquehanna came out strong, scoring the first three goals of the game within a one-minute span less than three minutes into the game.  Alvernia came back with two of their own, with goals from Sarah George (West Chester, Pa./WC Bayard Rustin) and Alyssa Verrillo (North Wales, Pa./Archbishop Wood).  Susquehanna scored three out of the next four goals before Alvernia scored three quick ones to tie the game at six each with 7:48 remaining in the first half.  Susquehanna scored five more goals before halftime, to Alvernia's one for the 11-7 halftime lead.

The second half was more of the same as Susquehanna scored the first two, four in between and the last two goals of the game.

Samantha Landis (Watsontown, Pa./Warrio Run) had four goals for Alvernia, while Allison Bainbridge added two goals and two assists and George had two goals.

Alvernia will return to action March 20th when they host Smith College in a non-conference match-up beginning at 4:00pm.
