Reading, Pa. (Mar. 31, 2012)
– Misericordia University (7-1) scored six goals in the second quarter en route to a 16-3 win over Alvernia University (5-4) Saturday afternoon in non-conference men's lacrosse action at Schlager Memorial Field.

The Crusaders kept it close in the first quarter forcing the Cougars into offensive errors and just a pair of goals.  Junior Paul Tarnacki (Howell, N.J./Howell) finished off a great feed from Brian Ray (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) across the goal mouth to put the Crusaders up 1-0 five minutes into the game, but the Cougars came back with a man-up goal two minutes later and took the lead with an even strength tally shortly thereafter.

The goals came early and often for Misericordia in the second quarter.  The Cougars scored off the opening faceoff and added five more for an 8-1 lead at halftime.

Ray scored a goal for the Crusaders in the third, but Misericordia tacked on four for a 12-2 lead through three quarters.  The final quarter was a repeat of the third with the Cougars taking the 16-3 final.

Junior goalie Kevin Shupp (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) made 16 saves in three quarters.  Brandon Weaver (Shillington, Pa./Governor Mifflin) played the fourth and made three saves.

The Crusaders travel to DeSales for a non-conference game on Monday.
