Four-Goal Third Carries LaRoche Past Alvernia

Butler, Pa. (Mar. 6, 2012) - LaRoche College scored four unanswered goals in the third quarter to break open a one-goal game on its way to an 11-7 win over Alvernia University Tuesday evening in non-conference men's lacrosse action at LaRoche.

The Crusaders got a game-high four goals from Brian Ray (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) and a goal each from three other players.  Ray scored three of his goals before halftime including one with six seconds left before the break to make it 6-5 LaRoche.

LaRoche scored in the first minute of the third quarter and three more times over the next seven minutes to pull away.  Ray scored his final goal of the game with 7:22 left to make the score 10-7 LaRoche, but the Crusaders could get no further.

Alvernia goalie Kevin Shupp (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) made 23 saves in net for the Crusaders who continue the two-game road trip Thursday at Bethany.
