Alvernia Falls To Elizabethtown 18-4

Elizabethtown, Pa. (April 17, 2012) - Alvernia (5-8, 0-3 Comm.) fell to the Blue Jays from Elizabethtown (7-6, 2-3 Comm.) by a score of 18-4 this afternoon in Commonwealth Conference Men's Lacrosse action at Schlager Memorial Field.  The Crusaders hung tight through the first quarter, trailing just 2-1 heading into the second quarter and 4-3 early in the third quarter, but the Blue Jays put up a huge final 25 minutes for the comfortable 18-4 victory.

In the first quarter, it was a goal from Brian Ray (Cranford, NJ/Cranford) that brought Alvernia withing one goal, 2-1.  The Blue Jays scored two more in the second quarter for the 4-1 lead, before Alvernia answered again with another goal from Ray to being Alvernia withing two, 4-2.

The Crusaders opened the third quarter with a goal from Patrick Hoban (Morristown, NJ/Morris Catholic) to bring Alvernia within one, before Elizabethtown exploded for 14 of the game's last 15 goals.  Colin Gallagher (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) put Alvernia's fourth goal in with 2:21 remaining.

Alvernia will travel to Messiah College on April 21 for a conference game beginning at 7:00pm.
