Sarah George (West Chester, Pa./Bayard Rustin) scored a game-high five goals to tie the single season goals record at Alvernia University (9-7, 3-3) and lead the Crusaders to an 18-6 win over Lycoming College (4-13, 1-5) Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Conference women's lacrosse action at Lycoming.
George already holds the career points record with 259 through Saturday's game and with her next goal she will set a new season record with 66 and tie the career mark with 204.
George scored a pair in the first half and
Alyssa Verrillo (North Wales, Pa./Archbishop Wood) scored three of her five as the Crusaders jumped out to an 8-2 lead at the break. George scored the first goal of the second half as Alvernia opened with nine of the first 10 goals to put the game away.
Jenn Czarnecki (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert's) made 11 saves in the win and
Allison Bainbridge (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) added a hat trick.
Alvernia enters the Commonwealth playoffs as the fourth seed and will travel to top seed Messiah College for a 4:00 p.m. game Wednesday.
