Heather Coppola (Fulton, N.Y./G. Ray Bodley) added five to lead #4 Alvernia University (11-8) to a 19-11 victory over #1 Lebanon Valley College (9-8) Saturday afternoon in semifinal action of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Mid-Atlantic Women's Lacrosse Tournament at Marywood University.
The Crusaders advance to the ECAC Final and will face host Marywood on Sunday morning at 10:00.
Alvernia responded to a 4-3 deficit with a streak of four straight goals getting a pair from Bainbridge and another from Coppola to open up a 7-4 lead. It ran off eight of the final 11 goals of the first half for a 10-6 lead at the break.
The Crusaders put the game out of reach with the first five goals of the second half and seven of the first eight. Bainbridge scored three during the 5-0 spurt and junior
Alyssa Verrillo (North Wales, Pa./Archbishop Wood) added all three of her assists during the run.
Senior Jen Czarnecki (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert's) made nine saves in the win.
Alvernia is making its third ECAC appearance and its second in the final, looking for its first ECAC Title. It lost to top-seeded FDU-Florham in the '06 final.
