BOX SCORE

Reading, Pa. (May 9, 2012) - Fourth-seeded Alvernia University (10-8) scored 11 goals in each half and had three players score at least five goals apiece in a 22-9 win over #5 Neumann College (10-7) Wednesday afternoon in an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Mid-Atlantic Women's Lacrosse quarterfinal at Schlager Memorial Field.

Ali Bainbridge (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) scored six goals and added four assists to lead the way, senior Sarah George (West Chester, Pa./Bayard Rustin) added to her career lead in points with five goals and two assists, and Alyssa Verrillo (North Wales, Pa./Archbishop Wood) added five goals and an assist.

Alvernia opened with the first two goals of the game--one each from Verrillo and George--but Neumann answered with four straight to take a 4-2 lead.  The Knights held a 6-4 lead with 11:43 before Bainbridge led the charge scoring four of her six during a seven minute stretch where the Crusaders put up seven straight goals for an 11-6 lead.  Neumann snapped the streak with the final goal of the half to hit the break down 11-7.

Alvernia put together another streak to open the second half with George scoring three straight to cap a 5-0 run.  Neumann stopped that run with a goal, but the Crusaders came back with a run of six straight to put the game away.

Jen Czarnecki (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert's) made 10 saves in the win.

The Crusaders advance to the semfinals and will face Commonwealth Conference foe Lebanon Valley College, the top seed, at Marywood on Saturday afternoon.  Game times are 3:00 and 5:30.  The Crusaders' start time is to be announced.

The Dutchmen got a game-high nine goals from conference player of the year Hana Kreckel in an 18-12 win at Alvernia back on April 14.  Both teams lost in the Commonwealth semifinals.
