BOX SCORE
Aston, Pa ( Friday Nov. 15, 2013 ) - The Neumann University Knights scored on a deflection midway thru the five minute, sudden death overtime period for a 7-6 barn burner victory over Alvernia University Friday evening.
A typical Neumann – Alvernia, DVCHC contest seesawing back and fourth with both teams watching two-goal leads evaporate during the night. The Crusader's ( 10-5-1 ) scored the game-tying goal with 36 seconds remaining in regulation and a vacant net.
Vern sophomore
Nico Delgiorno ( Columbia, Pa / Hempfield HS ) sniped home a shot from the lower left face off circle past the Knights' goaltender to push the game into overtime and give Alvernia a much needed overtime point on the road.
Only minutes earlier Neumann grabbed the 6-5 lead on a man-advantage opportunity putting the game in jeopardy for Alvernia.
An offensive-dominated game both teams torched each other with quality scoring chances although Neumann owned the total shot category bombarding a hefty 46 shots on Vern goalie
Patrick Murray (Â Cranford, NJ / Cranford HS ).
The first line once again owned the score sheet with Jimmy McKelvie ( Hatfield, Pa / North Penn HS ) ticketing a four-goal night. McKelvie controlled the corners and had several strong moves down the high slot burning the Knights goalie with deft puck handling.
Both Delgiorno and McKelvie accounted for all the Crusader goals while line mate
Brian Callahan ( Willow Grove, Pa / Upper Moreland HS )Â anchored the duo with several assists.
The game featured the Neumann Knights ranked #5 in the ACHA Atlantic Region vs. the Crusader's ranked #6.
