Alyssa Verrillo (North Wales, Pa./Archbishop Wood) scored a career-high seven goals and handed out one assist, but King's College (1-0) scored four of the game's final five goals for a 16-13 win over Alvernia University (0-1) Tuesday afternoon in non-conference women's lacrosse action at King's.
The Monarchs jumped out to a 6-2 lead with seven minutes left in the first half, but Alvernia scored the final two of the first and another to start the second to pull within one goal, 6-5.
Verrillo scored six of her seven in the second half with the final goal tying the score at 12-all with 12:52 to play. King's came back with three straight goals over the next seven minutes and both teams scored once in the final six minutes to set the 16-13 final.
King's got goals from six different players led by five goals from Amanda Harney. Alvernia held a decided 37-26 lead in shots, but King's freshman Alysa Marino made 14 saves in the win.

Julie Sutton (Sewell, N.J./Clearview) scored three goals in her first collegiate game. Vicky Kearn (Merrick, N.Y./Sanford H. Calhoun) made six saves in net for the Crusaders.
Alvernia is off until Sunday when it meets Georgian Court at the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex.
