Julie Sutton (Sewell, NJ/Clearview) scored a game-high six goals on Tuesday evening leading Alvernia University (1-2-1) a 21-9 victory over Miserecordia University (0-3) in non conference women's lacrosse matchup at Schlager Memorial Field.
Sutton scored the first of her six just 20 seconds into the game as the Crusaders struck first and never looked back. She finished the first half with four goals and now leads the team with 12 on the season.
Senior attack Alli Bainbridge (Pottstown, Pa/Pottsgrove) scored five goals and added two helpers. Her fifth goal came on an incredible cut followed by a diving shot that found the back of the net.
Also contributing to the offensive effort was
Alyssa Verrillo (North Wales, Pa/Archbishop Wood) and
Jacquelyn Strange (Newtown, Pa/Council Rock North) who each had three scores.
As a team the Crusaders posted 40 shots outshooting their opponents by over a 2-1 margin.
Senior goalkeeper
Victoria Kearn (Merrick, NY/Sanford H. Calhoun) received the victory while freshman keeper
Colleen Reilly (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) tallied 23 minutes in net and made four saves.
The Crusaders return to play on Saturday when they travel to Susuquehanna University.
