Gallagher Ties Goals Record As Crusaders Better Rosemont

Junior Tallies Six Goals

Reading, Pa. (Mar. 13, 2013) - Junior Colin Gallagher (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) tied the school record for goals in a game with six leading Alvernia University (3-3) to a 14-5 win over Rosemont College (1-4) Wednesday afternoon in non-conference men's lacrosse action at Schlager Memorial Field.

Brian Ray (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) opened the scoring with an unassisted goal just over two minutes into the game and the Crusaders scored seven of the first eight goals in the game.  Gallagher scored one in the first and two in the second as the Crusaders built a 7-2 lead at halftime.

From the middle of the third period into the fourth Gallagher was involved in five straight goals, setting up Jared Toll (St. Catherines, Ontario/Lewisburg Area) with 5:49 left in the third then netting three straight himself before setting up Rick Reid (Drexel Hill, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) for the first goal of the fourth quarter.

Brandon Weaver (Shillington, Pa./Governor Mifflin) made 14 saves in 51 minutes and sophomore reserve Mikhail Gardner (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) played the final nine and made one save.

Alvernia returns to action Saturday at Misericordia.
