Bainbridge Scores Five As Alvernia Defeats Eastern

Reading, Pa. (March 21, 2013) - Allison Bainbridge (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) scored five goals as Alvernia (2-3-1) cruised to a 16-6 win over visiting Eastern University (0-5) this afternoon in non-conference action at Schlager Memorial Field. Both teams observed a moment of silence pre-game as part of #Play4SetonHill.

Two of Bainbridge's five goals came in the first ten minutes of play as Alvernia netted the first five goals of the game before the Eagles got one back at 23:50 to make it 5-1. The Crusaders added three more goals to take the commanding 8-1 lead at 13:27 in the first half, and outscored the Eagles as the first half wound down 3-2 to hold an 11-3 halftime lead.

The second half was more of the same with Candace Knight (Darlington, Md./Havre De Grace) finding the back of the net to put Alvernia up 12-3, followed by three more Alvernia goals to make it 15-3. The Eagles scored three of the last four goals of the game, but Alvernia still won the half 5-3, and the game 16-6.

Alyssa Verrillo (North Wales, Pa./Archbishop Wood) finished the day with four goals, while Hannah Dorsch (Hamden, CT/Linganore) added three.

Alvernia is back in action on March 23rd when they host FDU in a non-conference game beginning at noon.
