Radnor, Pa. (March 27, 2013) - Alvernia University (3-4-1) fell to host Cabrini College (3-5) by a score of 17-9 this afternoon in non-conference women's lacrosse action. The Crusaders hung tight and were down just 6-4 at the half, before the Cavaliers outscored them 11-5 in the second half.
Cabrini jumped ahead 2-0 early in the game, before Alvernia scored three of the next four goals to tie the game at three at 16:55 in the first half. The Cavaliers scored three of the final four goals in the first half for the 6-4 halftime lead. The second half started with eight straight goals from Cabrini before Alvernia got one back to make it 14-5. After two more Cabrini goals, Alvernia netted four in a row but it wasn't enought to overcome Cabrini's early second half surge.
The Crusaders were led by
Allison Bainbridge (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) and
Hannah Dorsch (Hamden, CT/Linganore) who each had three goals.
Alvernia is back in action on Thursday March 28th when they host Lycoming at 4:30pm in their Commonwealth Conference opener.
