Alvernia Captures First Conference Win

Crusaders Defeat Hood 9-3

Frederick, Md. (April 13, 2013) - The Crusader Men's Lacrosse team earned their first conference win with a 9-3 victory over Hood College (3-12, 0-6) Saturday afternoon at Hood College.  Alvernia (5-9, 1-4) got a game-high four goals from Brian Ray (Cranford, NJ/Cranford).

Both teams opened the game with one goal in the first quarter.  Ray netted his first of the game at 7:47, but Hood quickly answered to tie the game with a goal at 7:32.  In the second quarter, Alvernia scored three goals in a row, before Hood closed out the half with a goal to make it 4-2 in favor of Alvernia.

Hood opened the third quarter with a goal, but it was all Alvernia after that as they netted the final five goals of the game for the 9-3 win.

Jared Toll (St. Catherine's, Ontario/Lewisburg Area) had three goals, while Daniel Frantz (Lansdale, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) and Patrick Corcoran (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South) each had a goal.

The Crusaders are back in action on Wed. April 17th when they host Lebanon Valley College in a Commonwealth Conference game beginning at 4pm.
