Annville, Pa. (April 17, 2013) - Lebanon Valley (9-2, 4-1) scored the first six goals of the game, on their way to outscoring Alvernia 12-2 in the first half and earning an 18-4 victory over the Crusaders Wednesday evening in Commonwealth Conference action at LVC. Alvernia (6-6-1, 3-2) managed just two goals in each half, and falls to fifth in the conference with the loss.
The Dutchmen wasted no time getting on the board, netting six goals within a tidy seven-minute stretch, forcing Alvernia to call a time-out. Fresh out of the timeout,
Julie Sutton (Sewell, NJ/Clearview) got the Crusader on the board at 21:08, making it 6-1, and after two more LVC goals, Alyssa Verillo (North Wales, Pa./Archbishop Wood) made it 8-2 with her 27th goal of the season. LVC closed out the first half with four straight goals in the final four minutes of play.
Sutton opened the scoring in the second half to make it 12-3, but it was all the Dutchmen for the rest of the second half, scoring six in a row, before
Hannah Dorsch (Hamden, CT/Linganore) closed out the game with a goal in the final seconds.
The Crusaders will host Elizabethtown on Tuesday April 23rd in another Commonwealth Conference game.
