Crusaders End Season With Messiah Loss

Reading, Pa. (April 27, 2013) - The Alvernia (5-12, 1-7) Men's Lacrosse team fell to visiting Messiah College (6-8, 4-4) by a score of 17-5 in Commonwealth Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Schlager Memorial Field.  Brian Ray (Cranford, NJ/Cranford) led Alvernia with three goals and one assist.

After Alvernia managed the first goal of the game, at 13:44 from Colin Gallagher (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson), the Falcons jumped out to a 5-1 first quarter lead with the next five goals.  Messiah went on to score six goals in the second quarter, while Alvernia's lone second quarter tally came from Ray at 4:00.  Messiah went into the half with an 11-2 lead. 

Alvernia played a nice third quarter, allowing just one Falcon goal, and getting one of their own from Ray at 8:05, but Messiah finished the game with four of the last six goals for the 17-5 final.

Saturday afternoon's loss concludes the season for Alvernia Men's Lacrosse.
