Owings Mills, Md. (April 6, 2013) - Alvernia (5-5-1, 2-1) got goals from five different players as they fell to host Stevenson University (9-1, 2-0) this afternoon in Commonwealth Conference women's lacrosse action by a score of 19-5. The Crusaders were outscored 10-2 in the first half and 9-3 in the second half.
Alvernia managed to keep it close early, allowing just two Mustang goals through the first 15 minutes of play. A goal from
Hannah Dorsch (Hamden, CT/Linganore) at 19:31 made it just 2-1 in favor of Stevenson. Both teams traded a goal to make it 3-2 Stevenson at 15:08, but the Mustangs following with a 7-0 run to end the half and take the 10-2 lead.
Alvernia scored the opener in the second half with a goal from
Allison Bainbridge (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) to make it 10-3, but Stevenson scored the next three to make it 13-3.
Nora Walsh (Hatfield, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) got one back for Alvernia to make it 13-4 before the Mustangs posted six straight goals. The final goal of the game came from
Jacquelyn Strange (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) as the clock wound down.
Alvernia is back in action on Wed. April 10th when they travel to Widener for a conference game beginning at 7:00pm.
