BOX SCORE Newark, Del. (Oct. 5, 2014) - Alvernia University (4-0-1, 1-0) rallied from a 3-0 deficit in the first period to defeat the University of Delaware (3-3) with a 6-4 win in DVCHC Conference play Saturday at Gold Arena.
The University of Delaware came out strong, attacking hard in the first period to take a 3-0 advantage over the Crusaders. Alvernia hit its stride in the second period, netting five unanswered goals to take the 5-3 lead. Delaware and Alvernia exchanged goals in the final period, bringing the Crusaders to a 6-4 victory and a 1-0 start in conference play.

The Crusaders' offense was powered by the first line as
Jim McKelvie,
Brian Callahan, and
Sean Mullen accounted for a combined ten points. McKelvie picked up four points on the night, ripping two goals and two assists. Callahan mirrored McKelvie in goals with two, while Mullen dished out four assists.Â

Anthony Galeano locked in three points, notching a goal and two assists.
Mirco Giangiulio also added a goal to his freshman campaign, his second of the season.

James Bangar from Los Angelos, California gained the win in the pipes with 31 saves. Bangar is now 3-0 on the season for the Crusaders.
The Crusaders return to action this Friday, October 10th as they host Farmingdale State in non-conference action at BodyZone.
