Big First Half Leads Alvernia Past Marywood, 18-8

Strange Nets Career-High Eight Goals

Reading, Pa. (Mar. 15, 2014) - Junior Jacquelyn Strange (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) scored a career-high eight goals leading Alvernia University (2-3) to an 18-8 win over Marywood University (1-5) Saturday afternoon in non-conference women's lacrosse action at Alvernia.

The Crusaders scored four times in the first six minutes of the game and built a 13-4 lead by halftime. Strange scored six of the first 13 goals for the Crusaders.  She scored the first goal of the second half for the hosts and tallied her eighth goal with a little more than 11 minutes left in the game. She smashed her previous single-game best of three goals which she had done twice before.

Alvernia got three goals each from Candace Knight (Darlington, Md./Havre de Grace) and Julie Sutton (Sewell, N.J./Clearview Regional).  Colleen Reilly (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) made six saves in the win.

Alvernia continues the season Tuesday at Misericordia.
