Neuman Finishes Off 15-13 Win Over Alvernia

Aston, Pa. (Mar. 10, 2014) - Neumann University (1-1) broke a 12-all tie with three of the game's final four goals over the last 10 minutes for a 15-13 win over Alvernia University (0-3) Monday afternoon in non-conference women's lacrosse action at Neumann.

The Knights broke a 3-3 tie with three straight goals and held a 3-goal advantage into the final minutes of play in the first hafl before Candace Knight (Darlington, Md./Havre de Grace) scored eight seconds before the break to pull Alvernia within two goals at 8-6.

Alvernia put together its own 3-goal spurt early in the second half to tie the game at 9-9 and took its first lead of the day when Julie Sutton (Sewell, N.J./Clearview Regional) scored to make it 11-10 with a little better than 20 minutes to play.  Neumann tied it at 11-11 five minutes later and had a brief 12-11 lead until Brooke Campione (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) scored to tie the score again at 12-all.

Neumann scored twice in a 2-minute span for a 14-12 lead and answered a goal from Jacquelyn Strange (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) with a little more than four minutes to play.

Alvernia continues the schedule at Eastern on Wednesday.
