Dolphins Nip Crusaders In Overtime

Reading, Pa (March 8, 2014) - The College of Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins (2-0), scored the winning goal at the end of overtime against Alvernia University (1-3) in a non-conference men's lacrosse game at Alvernia.

Alvernia came out firing, scoring two quick goals to open the game. CMSV answered and tied it up 2-2 at halftime.

The Dolphins took the lead for the first time in the third quarter, but the Crusaders stayed close.  Alvernia came back from a two-goal deficit, capped off by a Rick Reid (Drexil Hill, Pa/ Monsignor Bonner) goal in the final seconds of regulation to tie the game at 6-all. 

CMSV dominated the clock in overtime and they ultimately came out on top, scoring the game-winning goal with less than a minute remaining in overtime.

Reid led the Crusaders with three goals . Junior goalie Brandon Weaver (Shillington, Pa/ Governor Mifflin) had 21 saves.

The Crusaders return as the home team against Cazenovia College at the Haverford School on March 15 at 1:30 p.m. following an away game against Bridgewater University.
