Centenary Tops Alvernia, 11-7

Gallagher Reaches 100 Career Points

Reading, Pa. (Apr. 14, 2014) - Centenary College (4-7) defeated Alvernia University (2-11) by an 11-7 final Monday evening in non-conference men's lacrosse action at Alvernia.

The Cyclones jumped out to a 3-0 lead with three goals in the first quarter.  Alvernia got on the board midway through the second quarter when senior Colin Gallagher (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) scored his 22nd goal of the season and the 100th point of his career.

Centenary took a 7-2 lead at halftime.

Alvernia came back with four goals in the third--three of them from Rick Reid (Drexel Hill, Pa./Monsignor Bonner), but Centenary tallied three to keep a working margin and both teams scored once in the fourth quarter.

Mikhail Gardner (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) made 16 saves for the Crusaders.

Alvernia returns to conference action on Thursday when it hosts Elizabethtown.
