Five-Goal First Leads Etown Past Alvernia

Reading, Pa. (Apr. 17, 2014) - Elizabethtown College (6-7, 2-4) scored five first-quarter goals on its way to a 13-3 win over Alvernia University (2-13, 0-6) Thursday afternoon in Commonwealth Conference men's lacrosse action at Alvernia.

The Jays held a 5-0 lead after the first quarter and scored the first goal of the second to go up 6-0 before Alvernia got on the board on the man-advantage with 7:52 left in the second.  Senior Colin Gallagher (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) found Rick Reid (Drexel Hill, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) with a nice interior pass and Reid converted his 21st of the season.

Gallagher scored once each in the third and fourth quarters for Alvernia.

Brandon Weaver (Shillington, Pa./Governor Mifflin) made 17 saves in net for the Crusaders.

Alvernia continues the conference schedule at crosstown rival Albright on Wednesday.
