Consistent Offense Carries Stevenson Past Alvernia, 17-7

Knight Scores Three For Crusaders

Reading, Pa. (Apr. 5, 2014) - Stevenson University (7-4, 2-0) scored nine goals in the first half and added eight more in the second in a 17-7 win over Alvernia University (8-5, 2-2) Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Conference women's lacrosse action on a windy day at Alvernia.

Alvernia scored the first goal fo the game when Candace Knight (Darlington, Md./Havre de Grace) scored just over two minutes after the opening draw, but Stevenson came back with four straight and six of seven for a 6-2 lead with 9:17 left in the first half.  Knight scored two more goals separated by just 15 seconds late in the half, but Stevenson scored with 34 ticks left for a 9-5 lead at the break.

The Crusaders scored first in the second half when Brooke Campione (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) scored an unassisted tally to make it 9-6, but Stevenson answered with eight straight goals to take control.

Knight led the way with three goals for the Crusaders.  Colleen Reilly (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) made 11 saves in net for the Crusaders.
