Grantham, Pa. (May 1, 2014) - Top-seeded Messiah College (11-6) defeated #4 Alvernia University (9-8) by a 19-1 final Thursday afternoon in semifinal action of the Commonwealth Conference Women's Lacrosse Championships at Messiah.

The Falcons scored 10 goals in the first half and held a 10-0 lead at halftime.  They went ahead 18-0 before Candace Knight (Darlington, Md./Havre de Grace) scored the only goal of the game for the Crusaders with 7:22 left in the game.

Colleen Reilly (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) made 10 saves for the Crusaders.

Alvernia will await a possible ECAC bid while the Falcons host #2 Stevenson in the Commonwealth Final on Saturday.
