BOX SCORE Sweet Briar, Va. (Mar. 12, 2017) - Alvernia University put away 10 first-half goals en route to a 17-0 victory over Sweet Briar College Sunday afternoon in women's lacrosse non-conference action.
The Crusaders posted their first goal of many on their third shot of the day as
Abby McCarthy found the net just over a minute into the contest.
The second goal came just 40 seconds later as
Brooke Campione delivered on the pass from
Rachel Judge.
Alvernia extended its margin to 4 by halfway through the first half was Tequilla Donnelly and
Jenna Harper tacked on a goal a piece.
The Crusaders found the back of the net six more times before the half, including
Gabrielle Montefiore's first collegiate score.
In the second half,
Taylor Dorrin,
Bailey Stover, and
Makenzie Quinn each netted their first tallies of the season.
McCarthy led the way for Alvernia offensively, notching a pair of goals with four assists. Campione was just behind her with two goals and three assists. Other Crusaders with a duo of scores were Donnelly, Quinn, Montefiore, and
Brittany Defibaugh.
Samantha Rothman and
Kallie Taylor split the game in goal, combining for three saves.
Alvernia takes to the road again on Wednesday, traveling to Elizabethtown College for a 4:00 pm start.
