BOX SCORE Dover, DE (March 24, 2018) - Alvernia University (0-6) and Wesley College (2-5) traded goals in the first 45 minutes before the Wolverines were able to pull away for an 11-7 win in non-conference Men's Lacrosse action at Wesley.

The Wolverines took a 2-0 lead early in the first quarter, but the Golden Wolves came back to tie it up. Jordan Ludwig scored first to cut Alvernia's deficit to 2-1, and Thomas Fitzgerald evened things up at two all with three minutes left in the first quarter.

Jarret Abernethy broke the tie with just over two minutes remaining in the first quarter to put Alvernia up 3-2.

Both teams went scoreless for the first half of the second quarter before the Wolverines came back and tied it up at 3-3.

Alvernia retook the lead with a Zach Brommer goal with just under seven minutes remaining in the second quarter.

The Wolverines came right back with a man-up goal about a minute later, and took the 5-4 lead with another goal with two minutes left in the half.

Wesley came out of the half firing, scoring two quick goals to take a 7-4 lead.

Alvernia got one back with a Brommer goal five minutes into the third quarter to cut the Wolverines lead to 7-5.

The Golden Wolves got back within one with an Abernethy goal with two minutes left in the third quarter.

The Wolverines scored three goals over the next nine minutes to build a 10-6 lead with eight minutes remaining.

Abernethy scored his third goal of the day to cut the deficit down to 10-7.

Alvernia would go scoreless in the final six minutes, and the Wolverines added one more to take an 11-7 win.

Abernethy led Alvernia with three goals, and Brommer had two goals and an assist. Jacob O'Donnell played all 60 minutes in net for Alvernia, collecting 11 saves.

The Golden Wolves begin their conference schedule on Tuesday with a road trip to Stevenson.
