King's Scores In Overtime For 3-2 Win Over Alvernia

BOX SCORE Reading,Pa. (Feb 22, 2020) - Alvernia University (4-21,0-17) drops its final game of the season in its first overtime game in school history to King's College (3-21-1, 2-15-0) on Saturday afternoon, 3-2, in a MAC Commonwealth and UCHC women's hockey game at The Body Zone.

The Golden Wolves and the Monarchs were even through the first period of play. Olivia Gilida was the first to convert early in the second period on the power play. She was assisted by Abby Reisinger. 

After some penalty trouble for both teams the Monarchs would find themselves short-handed. That did not stop them from scoring their first goal of the game. Both teams would escape the 2nd period with giving up just one goal each.

The third period was more of the same for both teams. But Alex Robertson was able to net her first goal of the day on the power play to put Alvernia up 2-1 with time running out. King's would not go away and with four minutes left in the 3rd period the Monarchs would net their second goal to tie the game at 2-2. 

Heading into overtime, both teams played hard and and were even for most of the period. But King's would have the final shot with just 5 seconds remaining on the clock as they would net the game winner and take down the Golden Wolves 3-2 in the season finale. 

The Golden Wolves wrapped up their inaugural season with a record of 4-21, 1-7 in conference. They look to return their young roster for their second season for Alvernia.
