Wilmoth Take First, Leads Alvernia at Nassau Invitational

Long Island, NY (Dec. 11, 2022) - Andrea Wilmoth took first place and led Alvernia Women's Wrestling's showing at the Nassau Community College Invitational on Sunday.

Wilmoth won three bouts en route to a first place finish in the 170 lb weight class. She is the first Alvernia women's wrestler to claim first place in an invitational style format for Alvernia Women's Wrestling. All four of Alvernia's other competing wrestlers took second place. 

Andrea Wilmoth - 170 lbs, 1st Place
Wilmoth started her day with a pin of Delaware Valley's Caira Jaynes in 1:12. She then recorded her second fall in round two, taking down Delaware Valley's Makenna Cooper in 1:02. Wilmoth completed the fall hat trick in her final round, taking down East Stroudsburg's Felicia Smith in 1:18 to take first place.

Nevaeh Blevins - 101 lbs, 2nd Place
Blevins was pinned in 2:16 by Olivia Klein to start her day. But, she rebounded to take second place with a fall over Dyanna Pelaez of NJCU in 2:40.

Taylor Bloom - 109 lbs, 2nd Place
Bloom faced East Stroudsburg's Alanna Barberio twice. Barberio pinned Bloom in 28 seconds in their first meeting, and pinned her in 1:57 in their second meeting.

Kathryn Berger - 143 lbs, 2nd Place
Berger faced Veloria Pannell of MIT twice. She was pinned by Pannell in 29 seconds in the first meeting, and pinned again in 1:28 in the second meeting.

Gianna Faura - 191 lbs, 2nd Place
Faura edged out a 3-1 decision over MIT's Sarah Sams in her first round. She then faced NJCU's Sandra Guerrero in the final, but Guerrero pinned Faura in 2:58.

Alvernia has just under a month off for winter break before returning to action on January 8th at the East Stroudsburg Invitational.
