East Stroudsburg, Pa. (Jan. 29, 2023) - Alvernia University Women's Wrestling took fifth place on Sunday at the Pennsylvania Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championship at East Stroudsburg University. 

Nevaeh Blevins took second place at 101 lbs, and Gianna Faura took second at 191 lbs. Makayla Marrero-Mogel took third at 155 lbs, and Andrea Wilmoth took fourth at 170 lbs. 

Blevins had a first round bye in the round-robin style format set for 101. She then secured a fall in 2:14 in her second round, but was pinned in her final round for the second place finish. 

Faura started her day with a pin in 58 seconds, and moved on to the finals with a 5-1 decision. She then lost a 4-4 decision in the championship bout. 

Marrero-Mogel started her round off with a 9-6 decision, but moved into the consolation bracket after being pinned in the semis. After facing Lee from Delaware Valley in her first round, Marrero-Mogel faced a rematch with Lee in the third place bout. This time around, Marrero-Mogel pinned Lee in 4:08. 

Wilmoth moved into the consolation bracket after being pinned in her first bout. Wilmoth secured a 6-0 decision to move to the consi semis, and moved to the third place bout with a pin in 3:18. Wilmoth was then pinned in the third place bout to take fourth place. 

The host Warriors took first place in the inagural event.

Alvernia is back in action on Saturday at Ursinus.
