Alvernia in Second After Day One of Bobcat Classic

Greensburg, Pa. (Nov. 4, 2023) - After the first day of competition at the Bobcat Classic, Alvernia went 4-1 on the day and sits in second place overall in the field of nine teams.

Alvernia picked up wins over NJCU, PSU Altoona, Mount Aloysius, and La Roche. Alvernia's only loss of the day was to Saint Vincent, who sits atop the leaderboard after going undefeated through the first day of the Baker format competition.

Alvernia started its day with a 774-731 win over NJCU. Alvernia's highest score of the five-game match came in game two with a team score of 162. Alvernia averaged a 154 against NJCU, and Mia Siminitus recorded a 175 with her frames played to lead Alvernia over the Knights.

Alvernia then picked up its second win of the day with an 838-654 win over Penn State Altoona. Alvernia averaged a 167 through the five games and saw its highest score of the match come  in game five with a score of 186. Frankie Kelly led Alvernia in match two with a 192 in her frames played. 

The Golden Wolves then dropped a narrow 783-768 decision to Saint Vincent in match three of the day. Alvernia averaged a 153 against La Roche and broke through for a 201 in game three for its highest score of the match. Emily Huntley led Alvernia against La Roche, with a 176 in her frames played.

Alvernia got back on track in game four with an 804-624 win over Mount Aloysius. Alvernia averaged a 160 through the five games played, including a match-high 196 in game five. Huntley led Alvernia in game four with her frames totaling to 163.

The Golden Wolves closed out day one with a 769-676 win over La Roche College. Alvernia averaged a 153 through the five games with a match high 173 in game five. Alvernia was led by Huntley who scored a 192 in her frames played. 

Alverni is back in action tomorrow for the final day of the Pitt Greensburg Bobcat Classic.
