Alvernia Takes Second at Bobcat Classic

Greensburg, Pa. (Nov. 5, 2023) - Alvernia University went 3-0 on Sunday and 7-1 overall to secure a second place finish at the Pitt Greensburg Bobcat Classic.

Alvernia picked up wins on Sunday over Ursuline, Penn State Behrend, and hosts Pitt Greensburg.  Alvernia's only loss of the entire tournament was to Saint Vincent on Saturday, who went undefeated to take first place in the baker style tournament.

Alvernia started Sunday off with a 800-7223 win over Ursuline. The Golden Wolves bowled a 194 in game four to mark their highest score of the match. Morgan DuPont led the Golden Wolves in the match with a score of 163 in her frames bowled.

Alvernia kept things going with an 883-824 win over PSU Behrend. Alvernia put up a 215 in game three five strikes and four spares on the game. Alvernia was led by Frankie Kelly  in game two with a 193. Lacey Slaymaker was right behind Kelly with a 192.

In Alvernia's final match of the day, the Golden Wolves downed the host Bobcats, 787-675. Alvernia posted a 178 in game four for its highest score of the match and Slaymaker led the Golden Wolves with a 163.

Alvernia then bowled in a bye and scored an 838, which went towards its total pins on the tournament. Emily Huntley bowled a 183 in her frames to lead Alvernia in the bye. 

Alvernia averaged a 161.3 per game in its nine matches and finished with a total pinfall of 7,259. 

Alvernia has off next weekend before heading to Buffalo for the first three-day AMCC Round Robin of the season.
