York, Pa. (April 6, 2023) - Alvernia University picked up nine podium finishes on the final day of the MAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship on Saturday at York College.
Alvernia's Women's team finished in seventh place overall, and the Men's Team took 13th place.
On the men's side, both Brandon VanSchaick and Adam Loehr podiumed in the 400m hurdles. VanSchaick took second place and second team All-MAC with a PR and school record time of 55.21. Loehr took sixth place with a PR of 56.83.
On the women's side, Shinelle Felix and Mylina Castillo went 1-2 in the triple jump to take gold and silver for Alvernia. Felix took first place with a MAC record jump of 11.94m. Castillo took second with a PR jump of 11.62m. Both earned All-Conference honors for their performances
Katelyn Schoener podiumed twice for Alvernia on Saturday. Schoener took second place in the 1,500m with a time of 4:39.37 to set a new PR and pick up All-Conference honors. Schoener also podiumed in the 800m with a time of 2:20.73.
Cera Gaston rounded out Alvernia's medalists with a second place finish in the 5,000m. Gaston set a PR and school record with a time of 17:59.67.
Alvernia's 4x100m and 4x400m women's relay teams also took eighth place.
Messiah's Men's team and Widener's Women's team won the team championship titles.
