Williams Paces Alvernia at the Battle of Bulle Rock

Harve de Grace, Md. (October 15, 2024) - Shawn Williams led Alvernia University on day one of the Battle at Bulle Rock hosted by Alvernia at Bulle Rock Golf Club.

Williams led the way with a three over, 75 in the first round of the tournament. Matthew Gagliardi carded an 83, Kenton Lightburn recorded an 84 and Jackson Hoovler and Jakob Chapman both recorded 85s.

How it Happened

Shawn Williams led the way for the Golden Wolves and posted a three over 75 in round one. Williams started with a par at the first but then bogeyed the second. Williams then responded with six pars in his final seven holes to card a three over 39 on the front nine. Williams then made the turn and rattled off four straight pars before a birdie at the 14th. Williams ended with three pars in his final four holes but a bogey at the 17th saw him post an even par 36 on the back nine and finish with a 75 on the day. Williams is currently in a tie for fifth place.
Jackson Hoovler posted an 85 in round one of the tournament and is currently in a tie for 34th place. Hoovler started his day with a par at the first and a birdie at the third. Hoovler then pared the fourth but bogeys and doubles cost his front nine as he carded a 42 on the front nine. Hoovler started his back nine with a bogey but then bounced back with back to back pars. Hoovler then carded back to back big numbers but responded with three pars in his final four holes to card a 43 on the back nine and an 85 on the day.
Matthew Gagliardi fired in an 83 and is in a tie for 27th place. Gagliardi started with a par at the first but then carded three straight bogeys and then a double at the fifth. But, he then bounced back with a birdie at the sixth and then two pars in his final three holes to post a 41 on the front nine. Gagliardi went to the back and carded a birdie at the 11th but bogeys plagued his back nine as he posted a 42 on the back to finish with an 83 on the day.
Jakob Chapman started with a double on the first but bounced back with five more pars in his final eight holes and a birdie at the ninth to post a 40 on the front nine. Chapman then had his round affected by big numbers on the back nine but carded a par and a birdie at the par three 12th to card a 45 on the back nine and posted an 85 on the day and is in a tie for 34th place.
Kenton Lightburn posted a day one score of 84 and is currently in tie for 31st place. Lightburn started with three straight bogeys before a par at the fourth but three bogeys in his final five holes saw him card a 42 on the front nine. Lightburn then tallied three pars in his first four holes on the back and also carded a birdie at the 16th but bogeys and doubles plagued his back nine to post another 42 on the back nine and an 84 overall.
