Alvernia in Second Through Day One of Battle at Bulle Rock

Havre de Grace, Md. (Oct. 15, 2024) - Alvernia Women's Golf posted a team score of 330 on the first day of the Battle of Bulle Rock, hosted by Alvernia at Bulle Rock Golf Club.

McKylie Boreman shot a 79 to lead Alvernia on day one of the two day invitational. Alvernia team score of 330 has the Golden Wolves in second place overall through the first day of action. The Golden Wolves are ten strokes back of Christopher Newport University, and Alvernia six strokes ahead of York College.

NOTE: Two groups (eight players) did not finish their day one rounds prior to darkness. Places mentioned in this story may change when those eight rounds are completed on Wednesday.
 
Boreman, who is in a tie for third place overall, had a clean card through the first four holes. After a double on the fifth, she picked a stroke up with a birdie on the sixth. She made the turn at 3-over and carded four straight pars to open the back nine. Boreman pared two more holes the rest of the way for her round of 79.

Katie Lapinsky finished in second for Alvernia and is in a tie for sixth overall with a first round 81. Lapinksy started her day with a birdie on the par four 1st hole, but she gave it back with a bogey on the second. She pared three holes on the front nine and made the turn at 5-over. She had six more pars on the back nine for her round of 81.

Cassidy Miksich finished in a tie for third for Alvernia and is in a tie for 13th overall following a round of 85. Miksich was 7-over through seven holes, but had two straight birdies to close out the front nine and make the turn at 5-over. Miksich had a rough stretch across five holes on the back nine, but recovered with par-birdie-par on holes 16-18 to close out her round of 85.

Emmerson Barlety also shot an 85 to sit in a tie for 13th with Miksich. Bartley's round was highlighted by six pars, three on each nine.

Rylee Stenzel finished fifth for Alvernia and is in a tie for 21st overall with a round of 89. Stenzel had a birdie on the first to start her day and finished her day with eight pars.

Alvernia is back at Bulle Rock tomorrow for the final day of competition.
