Golden Wolves Take Fourth at the Battle of Bulle Rock

Harve de Grace, Md (October 16, 2024) - Jackson Hoovler and Shawn Williams both recorded scores of 76 on day two of the Battle of Bulle Rock to lead Alvernia University to a fourth place finish Wednesday afternoon.

The Golden Wolves posted a day two score of 317, ten strokes better than day one to finish in fourth place out of 11 teams. Alvernia finished with a two day total of 644 (327/317).

How it Happened

Shawn Williams posted a four over 76 in round two of the tournament and finished with a two day total of 151 (75/76). Williams started with a par at the first but then carded three bogeys and two doubles in his next six holes. Williams responded with back to back pars to end his front nine but posted a 43. Williams bounced back on the back nine with a par at ten and then rattled off three birdies in five holes and added back to back pars in between birdie stretches. Williams then finished out his back nine with three straight pars to post a three under 33 on the back nine and salvage an impressive 76 on the day. Williams finished in … place.
Jackson Hoovler also fired in a four over 76 on day two and finished with a two day total of 161 (85/76). Hoovler posted a solid front nine with six pars and added three bogeys at one, four and eight as he carded a three over 39 on the front. Hoovler then made the turn to the back nine and turned it on. Hoovler pared ten, then birdied the par five 11th before rattling off five straight pars heading into the 17th. Hoovler posted a double at the 17th but then bounced back with a massive par at the 18th to card a 37 on the back and post a 76 on the day. Hoovler carded a nine stroke improvement from round one to round two and finished in … place.
Matthew Gagliardi carded an 81 on day two of the Battle of Bulle Rock and finished his tournament with a two day total of 164 (83/81). Gagliardi started with three pars and a birdie in his first five holes but then carded four straight bogeys to post a 40 on the front nine. Gagliardi then posted a bogey at the tenth but bounced back with a birdie at the 11th. Gagliardi carded four pars in his final seven holes but a bogey and two doubles plagued his back nine as he carded a 41 on the back and finished with an 81 on the day. Kenton Lightburn carded an 84 on day two and finished in … place with a two day total of 168 (84/84). Lightburn started with a bogey at the first but then responded with three straight pars before another bogey at the fifth. Lightburn then posted two pars in his final four holes on the front nine but also carded a bogey and a double to post a 41 on the front nine. Lightburn then made the turn to the back nine and rattled off back to back bogeys at ten and 11 before a double at 12. He responded with three pars in his final six holes but also littered a few big numbers between the pars to post a 43 on the back and card an 84 for the second straight day.
Jakob Chapman rounded out the scores for the Golden Wolves with an 87 on day two and finished in … place with a two day total of 172 (85/87). Chapman carded two big numbers to start his day but bounced back with a par at the third and a birdie three at the fourth. Chapman carded a par at the sixth but then recorded three straight bogeys to end his front nine and posted a 44 on the front. Chapman responded with a birdie at ten and then back to back pars at 11 and 12 but then carded back to back big numbers at 13 and 14. Chapman ended his round with two pars in his final four holes to card a 43 on the back nine and post an 87 on the day.
