McKylie Boreman and the Alvernia Women's Golf team continued their respective outstanding fall season on Monday as both Boreman and the Golden Wolves took first at the two-day Kutztown Invitational at Moselem Springs Golf Club.
Alvernia posted a 320 on day two for a two-day total of 636 as the Golden Wolves took first in the field of eight teams.Â
Boreman fired a 72 on Monday to match her day one score for a two-day total of 144. She took first by eight strokes in the field of 40 golfers.
Both Alvernia and Boreman have won all five events Alvernia has participated in so far this season as well as its final regular season event of 2023-24, a streak both will look to continue tomorrow at Alvernia's home Invitational at LedgeRock. Boreman's five wins just this fall season has now matched her career-high for events won in an academic year. She won five events throughout her junior (2022-23) season.Â
Boreman was back and forth through the front nine of her second round. She started her day with a bogey on the first hole before picking the stroke back-up with a birdie on the second. She then went par-birdie-par to move to 1-under on her round, but she had bogeys on three of her final five holes of the front nine to make the turn at 2-over. Boreman settled in on the back nine and pared four straight holes before losing two strokes with back-to-back bogeys. She recovered well to end her round and went par-birdie-par on the 16th, 17th and 18th holes for her round of 72. Boreman finished her day with four birdies and eight pars.
Katie Lapinsky moved up four spots on the leaderboard with a round of five-over 75 on Monday. She finished with a two-day total of 155 to finish in third overall. She improved her first day score by five strokes. Lapinsky started her day with a bogey on the first before settling in for five straight pars. She then moved back to even par with a birdie on the seventh hole, but bogeyed the eighth and made the turn at 1-over par. Lapinsky remained at 1-over through the 13th hole with a birdie on par three 13th. Lapinsky found some trouble through the home stretch and finished with a round of 75. Lapinsky had two birdies and ten pars on her day.
Grace Spielman finished in third for Alvernia and in a tie for 12th overall with a two-day total of 168 following an 85 on Monday. Spielman played a relatively clean card on Monday, posting 10 pars.
Rylee Stenzel rounded Alvernia's counting scores with an 88 on Monday for a two-day total of 173 to finish in a tie for 18th overall. Stenzel's round was highlighted by three birdies and two pars.Â
Alvernia has a quick turnaround and is back in action on Tuesday for its third straight day of 18 holes of golf. The Golden Wolves will be on familiar territory as they host their home invitational at LedgeRock.Â
