Club Ice Hockey Takes Down Bloomsburg, 8-1

Wilkes Barre, Pa (November 19, 2024) - Alvernia University (5-6, 3-0) Men's Club Ice Hockey took down Bloomsburg University Club Ice Hockey by a score of 8-1 Saturday night in DVCHC club men's ice hockey action at the Toyota SportsPlex. 

The Golden Wolves tallied three goals in the first period and four more in the second period en route to the 8-1 victory. 

How it Happened 
  • Mark Torre got things started three minutes into the first period for the Golden Wolves thanks to assists from Logan Buch and Haden Peoples to make it 1-0. 
  • Alvernia then made it two just over a minute later after Bush found the back of the net for the eventual game winner and put Alvernia up 2-0 early. 
  • The Golden Wolves tallied one more in the first period when Reece Wilson put the puck into the back of the net to give the Golden Wolves a 3-0 advantage heading into the first intermission. 
  • The Huskies pulled one back in the first 11 seconds of the second period after Bradley Yuan found the back of the net to make it 3-1 Alvernia. 
  • The Golden Wolves offense then exploded for four goals in the final five minutes of the second period to push the lead to six, 7-1. Christopher Claycomb got things going after he scored a goal with 4:42 left in the period thanks to assists from Bush and Christian Kehoe
  • Claycomb then netted his second goal in as many minutes with just under three to go in the period. Anthony Downs followed Claycomb with a goal under a minute later and then Brendan Fergus rounded out the four goal period for the Golden Wolves with a goal in the final ten seconds of the period as Alvernia took a 7-1 lead into the second intermission. 
  • The Golden Wolves added one more insurance goal in the first eight minutes of the third period after Downs netted an unassisted goal to secure the 8-1 victory for the Golden Wolves.

  • Alvernia is 3-0 in the DVCHC and has a 5-6 overall record on the year. The Golden Wolves currently sit atop the league standings with a 3-0 record.

  • Alvernia is back in action this weekend with three games over the weekend. The Golden Wolves take on Catholic on Friday, Rutgers on Saturday and wrap up the weekend against Kutztown on Sunday. All games will be played at the Aston Ice Works.
