Alvernia Takes Ninth at Mount Shootout

Mount Joy, Pa. (Feb. 11, 2024) - Alvernia University went 2-1 on the final day of the Mount Shootout to finish in ninth place overall on Sunday afternoon in women's bowling action.

Alvernia defeated Chestnut Hill College 4-2 in the first round of action on Sunday. Alvernia dropped game one but rebounded with games of 215 and 227 to take a 3-1 lead on the match. Alvernia then posted a 215 in game four, but Chestnut Hill edged Alvernia with a 223. The Golden Wolves then took games five and six to take the match, 4-2.

Alvernia then moved on to take on Mercyhurst in round two. The Lakers defeated the Golden Wolves in straight games, 4-0.

Alvernia then drew Kutztown University in the final round. The Golden Wolves narrowly got by the Golden Bears in game one, 222-221, to take a 1-0 lead. Alvernia then put up big numbers in games two and three with a 231 and 237 to take a 3-0 lead. Alvernia then closed out the match with a 202-159 victory in game four for the 4-0 win to secure ninth place. 

The host Mount took first place, Niagara University took second place, and North Carolina A&T took third. 

Alvernia is back in action on Friday for day one of the three-day Wilmington University Wildcat Invitational.
