Alvernia Goes 3-2 at First Day of Mount Shootout

Mount Joy, Pa. (Feb. 9, 2024) - Alvernia University went 3-2 on Friday top open up its showing at the three-day Mount Saint Mary's Mount Shootout.

Alvernia picked up wins against Dominican, New Jersey City University, and Norfolk State University. The Golden Wolves dropped games to Bryant University and Mercyhurst University.

RESULTS
  • Alvernia put up a 1,015 in its first match of the day, but Bryant University edged the Golden Wolves with a 1,034. Frankie Kelly led Alvernia with a 246 in the Baker format match. Alvernia posted a 227 in game five for its highest game of the match.
  • The Golden Wolves rebounded with a 919-625 win over Dominican in its second match of the day. Emily Huntley led Alvernia with a 225, and Alvernia posted a 229 in game five for its highest game of the match.
  • Alvernia kept it rolling in game three with an 841-800 win over New Jersey City University. Huntley led Alvernia with a 191 and Alvernia's highest game of the match came in game two with a 215.
  • The Golden Wolves then fell to Mercyhurst University, 1035-961. Mia Siminitus led Alvernia with a 214 and the Golden Wolves posted a 215 in game one for its highest game of the match.
  • Alvernia closed out the day with an 884-859 win over Norfolk State University. Kelly led Alvernia with a 195 and Alvernia posted a 201 in game three for its highest game of the match.

  • Alvernia is in tenth place through day one with its 3-2 record. The Golden Wolves are back at Mount Joy on Saturday for five traditional style games. Total pins through Saturday will seed teams in the Sunday bracket.
