BOX SCORE 2 Elizabethtown, Pa (April 23, 2024) - Alvernia University (22-13) swept Elizabethtown College (8-20) in a non-conference softball doubleheader Tuesday evening at Elizabethtown.
Maggie Loomis went the distance and allowed just two runs in game one to lead the Golden Wolves to a 7-2 victory in game one. Alvernia then grabbed game two after a four run fifth inning to take down the Blue Jays 6-4 to secure the sweep of Elizabethtown.

How it Happened
- Alvernia struck first in the third inning when Alexia Fitzgerald ripped an RBI double to left center that scored Jaclyn Barbera to make it a 1-0 ballgame.
- The Golden Wolves tacked two more on in the top of the fourth after a Brooke Hauck RBI double into the left center gap and a Payton LaScala RBI single to push the Alvernia lead to three, 3-0.
- Alvernia tacked on another in the sixth when Paige Paciolla recorded a sacrifice fly to right field that was deep enough to score LaScala and make it a 4-0 ballgame in favor of the Golden Wolves.
- The Golden Wolves put up three more runs in the seventh inning to extend the lead to 7-0. LaScala started things off with an RBI single and then LaScala stole second and Hauck was able to score via an Elizabethtown error to make it a 6-0 game.
- Paige Paciolla capped off the three run inning by ripping an RBI single up the middle to score LaScala and push the lead to seven.
- The Blue Jays scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh but it was not enough as the Golden Wolves grabbed game one, 7-2.

How it Happened
- Alvernia took the lead first again in game two after two runs in the top half of the third. McClain started things off by scoring on a wild pitch and then LaScala singled up the middle to score Hauck and make it a 2-0 ballgame.
- The Blue Jays tied things up in the fourth after an RBI single and tallied the second on an Alvernia error to tie the game at two.
- The Golden Wolves responded with a four spot in the fifth to take the 6-2 lead. Barbera got things going with a solo homer to left to make it 3-2. Fitzgerald then pushed a run across on a groundout and Hauck then laced a double into left field to score two more and make it a four run, 6-2 game.
- Elizabethtown made things interesting by scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh after an RBI single and a sacrifice fly but Kelsey Racine got the Blue Jays to pop up on back to back at bats to secure the 6-4 victory.
